Do Dogs Really Have a Bigger Carbon Footprint than an SUV?

What would you do if you had to choose between your Dog and your SUV?
Studies show that medium sized Dogs have larger carbon footprints than a regular SUVs.
This is not exactly a Myth, but the studies came from the worries of the environment.
The myth exists because of the odd comparison of a dog and an SUV emitting Carbon and the Dog releasing more, which persuades the readers to believe that the environment needs attention.

Let's discuss the science related to this topic. What is a Carbon Footprint? A Carbon Footprint is "a measure of the impact our activities have on the environment, and in particular climate change. It relates to the amount of greenhouse gases produced in our day-to-day lives through burning fossil fuels for electricity, heating and transportation etc." (Carbon Footprint). A Carbon Footprint is measured in Hectares. A Hectare is a "is a unit of area equal to 10,000 square metres (107,639 sq ft), or one square hectometre (100 metres, squared), and is commonly used for measuring land area." (Hectares).

Phsyorg says that the myth is true and so does Alternet. There is a book called "Time to Eat the Dog? The Real Guide to Sustainable Living" which proves this myth accuratley but I could not find it on the internet or at the library so the next best thing was to find articles that relate back to the book.
